Scarlett Jarman's Leukemia Story

This blog is written about Scarlett Jarman, by her grandmother, Judy Byam. Her parents are Bobbi and Lance Jarman. She is 2 1/2 years old, has been diagnosed with Leukemia and is presently receiving treatment at the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary.

Bandaids PLEASE!

Our Family

Talking to Daddy

This picture was taken in the hospital in the Philippines when we were still in the process of figuring out what was wrong. She was chatting on the phone with her Daddy.

Bath Time

Baths have been a bit tricky here in the hospital. She needs to have her chest wrapped in saran wrap to keep her IVAD line dry. We are also a little short on bath toys so a rubber glove has been doing the trick.

Fishy's

When she is allowed out of her room there is a fish tank just by her door. She loves to watch the fish swimming around. She likes to point out which ones are Mommy's, Daddy's, Grandparents, and Sisters (no brothers cause she doesn't have one) .

Stethoscope

The Doctors and Nurses have been so great here at the Calgary's Children's Hospital. They try and make everything as fun and interesting as they can considering all the temperature taking, heart beat listening, blood pressure taking that she get's done in a day. They let the kids hold, touch, feel and listen to all the different instruments they use. They are so kind and patient with Scarlett, who is sometimes NOT in the mood to be fussed with again. (Who can blame her?)

Snuggle Time

Fresh and clean after a bath, snuggling with Daddy.

Walk

Scarlett and Daddy going for a walk. She is not allowed out of her ward and has actually been on quarantine to just her room a lot of the time we have been here. This was a day we were allowed to walk the short halls of the unit. It was an exciting day for her.

Barbie?

Here's Scarlett investigating a Barbie that she received as a gift from our good friends. Having lived in the Philippines since she was 7 months old, with a limited amount of toys, this was the first barbie she can remember seeing. She was extremely curious about it, in the end she loves to brush Barbies hair..
